Book Review: Sita's Curse
It was a private joke.Somewhere, behind closed doors, in her solitary world; Somewhere under the sheets with an inefficient lover; Somewhere, is a woman who will not be denied...Trapped for fifteen years in the stranglehold of a dead marriage and soulless household domesticity, the beautiful, full-bodied and passionate Meera Patel depends on her memories and her flights of fancy to soothe the aches that wrack her body; to quieten an unquenchable need. Until one cataclysmic day in Mumbai, when she finally breaks free...
Sita's curse is a bold, brazen and defiant tale of a middle-class Indian housewife's urgent need for love, respect, acceptance - and sexual fulfillment. In a series of incidents and coincidences the author has presented a tale that can be unanimously classified as Erotica. The backbone story line does not require even half of the length of this book that the often overused graphic descriptions has occupied. Although Sita's Curse has the language of Desire, the too vivid erotic elements is often repelling and at times the reader may be compelled to flip the pages to find and flow with the real story. Unfortunately, not for readers sharing my taste of reading.
